The Covatutto 16LFAN incubator is the new powerful and compact incubator from Novital, which marks a turning point for this type of model. It abandons the radiant heating system, thus becoming the first ventilated model in the 16L series, where the internal temperature is maintained thanks to a 40-watt heating element.

During assembly, remember that it is important to leave the cylinder of insulating material inside the upper part of the machine body. For assembly, we first screw the toothed ring nut onto the bottom of the upper part of the machine body, then lock them from underneath with the appropriate nuts. Place the rotation lever on the center pivot, and rest the tilting egg turner plate on it. Two additional separators are available to divide the bottom of the egg turner into different sectors.

We can therefore place the eggs horizontally, possibly using the separators to delimit the space where they should remain. The Covatutto 16L FAN allows incubating up to 15-16 small eggs, or a smaller number of larger eggs. Position the lid and connect the egg turner, located at the bottom in this model, to the machine’s dome using the appropriate cable. Once the plug is connected to a power outlet, the machine will immediately begin bringing the internal temperature to the desired value. To set the temperature and incubation duration, use the buttons to the right of the dome’s digital display: upper button for temperature, lower button for incubation duration. The values to set for chicken egg incubation are a temperature of 37.8°C and an incubation duration of 21 days. The button at the bottom left allows you to turn the egg turner on and off as desired. The latter turns on for approximately 40 seconds every 90 minutes to ensure optimal movement of the egg axis throughout the day. The machine is equipped with provisions for using the Novital digital thermo-hygrometer, not included in the package.

We will then add water to tray 2 to provide the necessary moisture during incubation. When the incubation is 3 days away, the machine will enter the hatching phase, locking the egg turner. It will then be necessary to fill the second tray with water as well, pull out the egg turner and rotation lever, and gently lay the eggs on the bottom grid. Once the incubator is closed, we will not go to open the machine again until the chicks hatch. When the chicks hatch, they should be left in the incubator for 24 hours before being moved under lamp or artificial hen.
