1. The peacock is not always “Indian”<\/h3>\n\n

When you think of the peacock, you almost always imagine the Indian peacock<\/strong> (Pavo cristatus<\/em>), with its blue and green feathers with metallic reflections. In reality, there are three main species: the Indian peacock<\/strong>, native to the Indian subcontinent; the green peacock<\/strong> (Pavo muticus<\/em>) or mute peacock<\/strong>, widespread in Southeast Asia; and the lesser-known Congo peacock<\/strong> (Afropavo congensis<\/em>), which lives in the rainforests of Central Africa. Discovered only in the twentieth century, the Congo peacock<\/strong> <\/a>is the only African representative of the peacock family. It is a shy, monogamous species, difficult to observe in the wild, and considered at risk of extinction<\/g>. His voice, almost absent, makes him a “silent” but extremely elegant animal. <\/p>\n\n

The male peacock opens the wheel not out of vanity, but to attract females<\/strong> during the mating season.
